‘Will sleep easier tonight’: RCB skipper Faf du Plessis relieved after franchise breaks six-game losing streak

Bangalore: Royal Challengers Bangalore skipper Faf du Plessis breathed a sigh of relief on Sunday as the franchise finally ended their six-game losing streak with a comprehensive victory over Kolkata Knight Riders.

After a string of disappointing performances, RCB came out all guns blazing in their match against KKR, putting up a commanding display with both bat and ball. The win not only lifted the team’s spirits but also helped them climb up the points table in the IPL 2022 season.

A much-needed win

The victory was especially significant for du Plessis and his team, who had faced criticism and questions about their form and strategy in recent matches. The South African captain led from the front with a brilliant knock that steered RCB to a comfortable win.

Speaking after the match, du Plessis expressed his relief at finally breaking the losing streak. “It has been a tough few weeks for us, but this win is a testament to the hard work and dedication of every player in the team. We will sleep easier tonight knowing that we are back on track,” he said.

A turnaround in fortunes

RCB’s victory over KKR marked a significant turning point in their IPL campaign. With just a few matches left in the league stage, the team will be looking to build on this win and secure their spot in the playoffs.

Du Plessis credited his teammates for stepping up when it mattered the most. “Everyone contributed to this win, from our top-order batsmen to our bowlers. It was a collective effort, and I am proud of how we came together as a team,” he added.

Looking ahead

As RCB gear up for their upcoming matches, du Plessis emphasized the importance of maintaining focus and momentum. “We cannot afford to become complacent after one good performance. We need to stay grounded and continue working hard to achieve our goals,” he said.

The IPL season is still wide open, and anything can happen. With renewed confidence and determination, RCB will be hoping to make a strong finish and lift the trophy this year.
