Blasters Army

Kochi, June 10, 2025 — Blending football fandom with environmental stewardship, the Kerala Blasters Army, the official fan base of Kerala Blasters FC, successfully concluded its statewide eco-initiative titled “A Tree for a Goal”, carried out from June 1 to June 7 across all districts of Kerala.

The campaign was born from a unique concept: for every goal scored by the team across all competitions in the 2024–25 season—including the Durand Cup, Indian Super League (ISL), and Super Cup—a tree would be planted. The club scored 52 goals in total, and true to their commitment, 52 saplings now take root across Kerala, each representing not just a goal, but a greener vision for the future.

🌱 Goals That Grow

What started as a symbolic gesture quickly evolved into a community movement. Fans turned into eco-ambassadors, gathering in yellow jerseys to plant trees in cities and villages alike. This initiative marks a significant step toward combining sports enthusiasm with climate-conscious action.

“We cheer for every goal inside the stadium—now, we wanted to make sure each of those cheers had an impact outside it too,” said a spokesperson from the Kerala Blasters Army. “Every tree is a tribute to a moment of joy and a step toward sustainability.”

🌿 Public Support Elevates the Movement

The campaign was graced by the participation of Sri. P. Prasad, State Minister for Agriculture, whose involvement brought credibility and statewide attention to the initiative. Also lending his support was Kerala Blasters Assistant Coach T.G. Purushothaman, who participated in the planting ceremony, symbolizing the bond between the club and its supporters.

A core team of Army leaders—Abhijith K.S., Sobhith Joshy, Gokul, Raghunandan, and Ramshad—worked tirelessly to coordinate the campaign across districts, ensuring smooth execution and maximum community participation.

From Cheering to Contributing

Founded in 2014, the Kerala Blasters Army is known for its loud, loyal presence in the West Gallery of Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, Kochi. Over the years, the group has expanded its role beyond matchday support, organizing social drives, charity events, health camps, and football development programs.

“This initiative was our way of extending the spirit of football into real-world action,” said Abhijith K.S., one of the campaign’s coordinators. “If we can plant a tree for every goal, imagine what we can achieve season after season.”

🌍 Future Goals: More Trees, More Impact

With the success of this campaign, the Kerala Blasters Army plans to expand the initiative in upcoming seasons. Talks are already in place to involve schools, local NGOs, and environmental groups to scale the program and engage more citizens in eco-awareness activities.

Their vision is ambitious but clear: turn every football season into an opportunity for meaningful environmental change—one goal, one tree at a time.
